The Soundtrack of My Life

the music that keeps me going…

Baby don’t rush this…

on August 20, 2010

…take your time
You and me goin’ be here for a while
Okay
I got so much that I want to do
I just want to be close to you
Okay
I got so much that I want to do
That I can show you better than I can say…

relax, ease into it…

*swoon*

I love Mos Def. Something about his voice– whether rapping, singing kinda like in this song, or even while acting–does it for me. I haven’t featured a hip hop artist for Freaky Friday in awhile, but this one sure is worthy.

I love the electric guitar. I imagine a dark steamy room, maybe a single light bulb glow. Or better yet a candle. Sandalwood. Hey, I’m a scent person, and I love musky scents.

Let me show you
Let me show you
Let me show you…

as if saying it once wouldn’t convince you, he says it FIVE MORE TIMES and throws in a “I wanna show you” for good measure.

Oh baby, you make me feel so good
Come let me take you by the hand
Oh baby, you make me feel so good…

so yeah. it aint no more to it.

Enough talk and let’s move…

if “The Panties” isn’t on any of your playlists, you might just wanna add that… if you aren’t feeling his voice, cop the instrumental. TRUST ME ON THIS.

Happy Friday and have a good weekend 🙂

  1. I’ve never heard this song before but I like it! Very nice choice for Freaky Friday…

Mos Def is doing a show here in Mpls on Monday, I’ve been thinking about checking him out, I’ve never been to one of his shows.

Hadn’t heard this one but it is nice. I have a bit of a crush on Mos Def so he is always alright with me. The instrumental is nice too.

Love this song. The first song that I put on my sexy song list every time. I like how he presents it with a little bit of soul and sweetness.

word New Danger was a slept on CD and from the looks of comments many hv never heard it. It was a niice cd but wasn’t marketed well after success of “black on both sides”. but yea this one of my fav mos def tracks

this song makes me wanna call someone everytime i hear it.. then i realize i have no one to call.. Lol..
it’s like everything about the beginning is just a lead up until that music comes in.. then it’s greatness and more..
    Good choice!!
I’ve loved Mos since he was with blackstar.. since he was dealing with Rawkus.. but i don’t wanna get into a debate with Reecie.. cuz she probably knew him from when he was 10 years old boppin on the block..
this was NICE for a Friday!

  8. OMG!! How did I miss this? When I first got that cd, The Panties stayed on repeat. That year, Mos did a show in Columbus at this small venue. When he did this song, they put on a red light. Girrrllll!! lol. Definitely on the playlist.

    Good post! 🙂

Definitely one of my favorite and one of the most slept on “songs to set the mood” ever. Good choice 😉
