so, I’m not the BIGGEST Ne-Yo fan. but I loooooved his first cd? Stay? Time? Get Down Like That? (my favorite), and even the ever played out So Sick. I loved it. it was a road trip classic.
then the second CD came out and I was like cool. the title track “Do You” clearly the standout for me. this song randomly came on today and I was reminded of the feeling I felt when I first heard this song.
I know a lot of people are like when a relationship is over, its over–totally ignore your existence. I have never been one of those people. lol. to my detriment I guess. I mean I move on yes, but I also have a history of “recycling” of sorts. maybe its because I don’t cut people off totally, we remain friendly, etc. Of course not “buddy buddy pal pal lets go hang out”, but cordial enough. So when I heard this song I immediately thought of a friend, because we truly are ONLY friends at this point—he’s got a girl, he’s got a kid, and I’m like damn this is a good song! now its got me wondering….”do you still think of me (in that way?)” I’ve moved on too but…I couldn’t help but hear this song and think of you. hmmm….
“I know what we have is dead and gone.
Too many times I made you cry.
And I don’t mean to interrupt your life.
I just wonder do I ever cross your mind?”
Now in my case, I never made anybody cry (I don’t think) but for whatever reason it just didn’t work out. and I mean this is someone that at age 16 I just KNEW I could spend the rest of my life with him. not because of some stupid fantasy but because we had THAT much in common and just “got” each other. clearly I’m not the same person I was *cough12cough* that many years ago…so who knows what that wouldve been like? LOL. we all move on and do what’s best for us. but when I heard the song today, it reminded me of that feeling.
maybe some of you are going thru that right now…..what would you do if someone came at you like that? like seriously, if we haven’t talked in like 10-20 years I don’t know if I’d want someone to ‘interrupt my life’ like that. matter of fact, I know I wouldn’t.
here’s the remix–which was done perfectly I might add, duet with my girl MJB.
its cool to wonder, but keep it to yourself!
this is an example of a song you can love even though you aren’t really going thru the particular situation…..
